FRIENDS OF EDUCARTE

“Thanks to generous support from friends on both sides of the border, Educarte is currently supporting more than 700 local students.”

About Educarte

Educarte was founded in 2016 by Arnott and Kathleen Duncan.  During more than 20 years vacationing in Puerto Penasco the Duncans were heartbroken to discover that a lack of resources was forcing parents throughout this community to choose between sending their children to school and meeting their basic needs. They became determined to one day help kids in this community break the cycle of poverty they come from through access to education.

That day came in 2015 when Kathleen formed a Mexican non-profit called ‘Asistencia Integral para Menores de Puerto Penasco’. In 2016, she hired a small team of local professionals and together they launched the EDUCARTE program to provide kids living in poverty with the long-term, consistent support they need to go to school and thrive inside and outside the classroom. That first year the program was funded primarily by the Duncans and it supported 72 students from kindergarten through high school.

Thanks to generous support from friends on both sides of the border, Educarte is now providing more than 700 students with a path out of poverty through education.
